Pinmeri Launches Mokpo-Jeju Route, a Cruise-style Car Ferry Capable of Carrying 270 Passenger Cars

Through the newly launched cruise-style passenger ship 'Pinmeri' for the Mokpo-Jeju route in 2026, it has become possible to travel to Jeju Island while bringing your own car. According to a video from the YouTube channel 'Walk Travel', the Pinmeri is a vessel that has operated three times since 2008, and in 2026, it began its fourth voyage after being completely reborn through pure domestic technology.

Large Car Ferry Facilities Capable of Accommodating 270 Passenger Cars and Onboard Amenities

The total tonnage of the Pinmeri reaches approximately 15,000 tons, which is equivalent to the weight of 2,500 African elephants. The total length of the ship is 143m, corresponding to the height of a 15-story apartment building, and the height, when measured from end to end, is over 20m, reaching the height of an 8-story apartment building. The most significant feature is that it is a car ferry-type passenger ship that can be fully loaded with cars. The parking space inside the hull can accommodate as many as 270 passenger cars.

Onboard amenities are also diversely configured. In the center of the 4th floor, there is an information desk along with a space where board games can be rented, and four coin karaoke booths are provided. Additionally, a convenience store and PARIS BAGUETTE are located on board, allowing use without separate food preparation. In particular, a 'Han River Ramen' vending machine is installed where one can cook and eat bagged ramen. In the video, it was mentioned that the price of ramen purchased at the onboard convenience store is 4,000 won, which is similar to eating it at the Han River. Besides this, two claw machines are installed.

Various Cabin Configurations and Usage Fees from Economy to VIP Rooms

Cabins are divided into several classes according to the users' purpose and budget. On the 4th floor, there are economy seats for sitting (capacity of 180 people) and room-type cabins for family travelers. Room-type cabins are divided into public ondol-style economy rooms, 4-person family ondol rooms, and 4-person family bed rooms with bunk beds. Additionally, 'Panorama Economy Rooms,' where one can clearly see the sailing view through wide windows, are also operated.

As of the time the video was released, economy seats can be used in the 30,000 won range normally, and in early August, which is the peak season, they were sold in the 40,000 won range. On the 5th floor, there are superior seats with more additional functions in the seats, and various premium cabins are prepared, ranging from the highest grade VIP rooms to Family Suites and general Suite rooms. Elevators are also installed to facilitate movement between floors.

6th Floor Outdoor Space and Sailing Scenery to Enjoy with Dogs

The outdoor space of the Pinmeri extends to the 6th floor. In particular, the 6th floor is the topmost floor and offers an excellent sense of openness, and a wide space is provided where one can run around with a dog, making it useful for travelers accompanied by pets. From the 6th floor, one can look down at the cityscape of Mokpo, the Mokpo Bridge, and the panoramic view of Gohado Island in the distance at a glance.

During the sailing process, one can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mokpo. Immediately after departure, a small performance conducted by the crew takes place, adding excitement to the trip. In the early part of the port, one can admire the cityscape of Mokpo, the cable car, and the scenery of Gohado Island, and thereafter, one passes the magnificent Mokpo Bridge. During the voyage, which continues for about 5 hours, one passes the vast sea between Chuja Island, the southernmost tip of the Korean Peninsula, and Jeju Island. The Pinmeri departs through the Samhak Pier Passenger Terminal in Mokpo.
