From KTX Andong Station to Hahoe Folk Village: A Travel Course Connecting Autumn Festivals and World Heritage

A travel route has been introduced that allows travelers to arrive in Andong via the KTX Jungang Line and explore both autumn festivals and the UNESCO World Heritage site, Hahoe Folk Village. In the KORAIL TV video, along with the explanation, "Coming here on the popular KTX Jungang Line and then moving around by bus," the video captures the process of arriving at Andong Station using the KTX and then moving to Andong's representative tourist attractions using buses or shuttle buses to simultaneously experience local festivals and traditional culture.

Andong International Mask Dance Festival and Traces of Old Andong Station

Andong Station, the starting point of the Andong trip, is characterized by an exterior that incorporates Hanok styles. The video shows the current Andong Station, which is mainly used by KTX passengers, and the traces of the past remaining at Old Andong Station. The area around Old Andong Station was used as an exhibition hall in the past, but it appears that remodeling work is currently underway. The vicinity of Old Andong Station is one of the major locations for the Andong International Mask Dance Festival and is a place where one can feel the vitality of the festival as it is connected to Mask Dance Park.

An official from the Korean Spirit and Culture Foundation introduced this year's Andong International Mask Dance Festival under the theme "Memories of Masks, Dance for All," stating that the festival has been selected as a global festival. The festival is held centered around Mask Dance Park and is expanding its scope by linking with surrounding tourist attractions such as Hahoe Folk Village. In particular, during the autumn season, it is suitable to visit Dosan Seowon, Hahoe Folk Village, and others along with the talchum festival.

Meeting the Scenery of World Heritage via Hahoe Folk Village Shuttle Bus

After enjoying Andong's representative food, Jjimdak, at the festival site, one can move to Hahoe Folk Village using a bus. The bus heading from Andong Station to Hahoe Folk Village takes about 50 minutes. Upon arriving at the entrance of Hahoe Folk Village, one passes through the ticket office and enters the interior of the village using a shuttle bus. The admission fee is 5,000 won for adults, and Andong citizens can visit for 1,000 won.

Hahoe Folk Village is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site and maintains traditional Hanok structures, such as 300-year-old noble residences. According to an explanation from a resident living in the village, the traditional earthen wall structure has the characteristic of being warm in winter and cool in summer. Foreign tourists also expressed satisfaction with the classical architectural style in the video, saying, "The atmosphere of these old buildings is really good." By utilizing KTX and bus routes, one can efficiently connect and enjoy Andong's traditional culture and autumn festivals.
