100% Train Fare Discount Vouchers for Visiting Depopulated Areas… Summary of '2026 Autumn Travel Campaign' Benefits

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Organisasi Pariwisata Korea are conducting the '2026 Autumn Travel Campaign' from October to November. They explained that they have prepared transportation, accommodation, and camping discount benefits so that travelers can reduce their travel expense burden and deeply enjoy the romance of autumn. The moderator of the campaign declaration ceremony introduced this occasion as a place where the public and private sectors join forces to expand citizens' participation in domestic travel and ensure those steps lead to regional tourism and regional economic vitality.

Transportation discounts grow as you travel more

Transportation discounts will be applied from October 1 to November 30. Looking at the core benefits announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, for trains such as KTX, if you verify your visit to designated depopulated areas, discount vouchers equivalent to 100% of the train fare will be provided. Theme trains will be discounted by 50%, and the Rail-ro Pass will be discounted by 20,000 won.

For airfare, if you book through Naver, there is a payback benefit of 10,000 won for inland routes and 5,000 won for Jeju routes, which applies to up to 4 people. For car travelers, if they drive to depopulated areas using TMAP, they can receive up to 30,000 points. If they rent an eco-friendly rental car in coastal areas, they can also receive up to 20,000 won in discounts.

At the declaration ceremony, the president of Organisasi Pariwisata Korea explained that the burden of transportation has been significantly lowered. He stated that if one uses free travel products for depopulated areas by rail, an amount equivalent to the fare will be returned as discount coupons, and if one visits various regions using TMAP, TMAP points will be given according to the number of visits.

Accommodation/camping discounts and travel expense refunds

For accommodation, through the 'Accommodation Sale Festa', accommodation discount vouchers for non-metropolitan areas will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis starting September 22. In particular, accommodation in island areas, which was newly established this year, provides a discount benefit of up to 50,000 won. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism also stated in the opening remarks that new accommodation discounts for travelers heading to islands are being started. For campsites, if you reserve through the CampingTalk or Campfit apps, a 10,000 won discount voucher will be supported.

There is also 'Local Travel Expense Support', where travel expenses are refunded. If you visit a designated area after applying in advance, 50% of the travel expenses will be refunded as mobile Local Love Gift Certificates, up to 100,000 won per person and up to 140,000 won for youth. Travel products through Gmarket, Vacation Shop, etc., are discounted by up to 50%. 390,000 people expected to benefit… 'Deep Autumn, Light Travel'

The president of Organisasi Pariwisata Korea explained that various institutions and companies, encompassing both the public and private sectors, are participating in this campaign, and benefits have been prepared across the entire travel process, including transportation, accommodation, travel products, and citizen participation events. He stated that through this, 390,000 citizens are expected to enjoy the campaign benefits. It is expected to reduce the travel expense burden for citizens and lead to more visits and stay-over consumption in regions.

In the opening remarks, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that it is not easy to leave daily life for travel due to work, children's schedules, and expensive accommodation costs, and that benefits have been prepared so that people can leave a little more easily this autumn with the cooperation of various institutions. He stated that it is fine to take a train and get off at a station you have never been to, or to hold a child's hand and go to a nearby market or walk slowly through an alley you usually pass by, noting that travel begins the moment you leave home and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will help that beginning.

The chairman of FKI said in a congratulatory speech that travel is a great help to revitalizing the local economy, and that they have been working with the government every year to vitalize domestic travel, and this autumn, they will ensure more companies and employees visit more regions. He also presented a plan to create programs that provide accommodation through events like concerts or drawings at the corporate level.
