Pocheon Unaksan Cloud Path Opens, Featuring Cliffside Walkways and Suspension Bridge at 800m Altitude

A new hiking course called the 'Cloud Path' has officially opened on the 800m altitude vertical cliff section of Unaksan Mountain in Pocheon. Opened on September 7, 2026, this path connects the section from Saraki Rock to Aegibong and consists of cliffside walkways (jando), a suspension bridge, and cloud stairs, allowing visitors to enjoy the hidden scenery of Unaksan that could not be seen from existing hiking trails.

According to a video from the YouTube channel 'Freedom and Mountain - Walking Travel Trekking', the newly created Unaksan Cloud Path is installed along the vertical cliffs of Saraki Rock. The specific lengths of the facilities—the 88m Saraki Rock cliffside walkway, 78m cloud stairs, and 41m cloud bridge—total 207m.

The presenter in the video shared the dizzying sensation of the site while walking the cliffside walkway installed in the Saraki Rock section, stating it felt "like walking in the sky." In particular, the name 'Saraki Rock' is a pure Korean name meaning a beautiful rock that unfolds like a silk screen. This section features a cliffside walkway attached to the cliff face, characterized by a thousand-foot drop beneath one's feet. In the video, although the view is partially obscured by wire mesh, the dizzying height can be felt as the sides consist of completely sheer cliffs.

A Cloud Observatory has also been prepared on the newly created path. In the video, it was mentioned that the view of Seobong, the summit of Unaksan, might be somewhat limited, but instead, it emphasized that the 360-degree openness viewed from the Cloud Observatory is excellent. The presenter explained the wide-open view, saying, "You can see the views you can't see from the summit here." The Cloud Observatory provides a sense of openness that makes one's chest feel refreshed due to the unobstructed view.

The suspension bridge section is shaped like a bridge stretched between cliffs, boasting a dizzying height where one can feel the swaying when crossing. Beyond the bridge, beautiful rocky ridges unfold, and the characteristics of 'Baramgol' (Wind Valley), where strong winds blow, can also be confirmed. The video captures the scene of enjoying the magnificent mountain scenery unfolding to the left and right while crossing the short suspension bridge.

Precautions and course information for using Unaksan Course 1

The presenter, who moved via Unaksan Course 1 at the time of filming, explained that this course is primarily chosen as an ascent route because it has steep slopes and dangerous elements. With the Cloud Path now established on Course 1, changes in how the hiking trail is used are expected. In particular, since steep stair sections continue, wearing hiking boots is highly recommended. Additionally, the video includes a route passing through 'Daegolteo', where it is said that Gungye met a sad end at Mujichi Falls, and Mujichi Falls (the water was dry at the time of filming).

It took approximately 3 hours and 26 minutes to reach Seobong (935m), the summit of Unaksan, based on the time of filming. From the summit, one can view the section where the cliffside walkway is installed, the back of Bucheobawi Rock in the direction of Gapyeong, and even Bukhansan and Hwaksan in the distance. Since this Cloud Path is adjacent to the summit, it is a route that hikers coming from the Gapyeong direction can also fully utilize. However, an impression from the site was shared that the length of the cliffside walkway section is somewhat short, leaving a sense of regret.
