"Even beasts need to eat"... A grandmother's heart caring for hungry baby animals
In the KBS 'Namdo Geography' video broadcast on September 21, 2016, the image of a grandmother carefully looking after hungry baby animals was captured. Even toward beasts, the grandmother treats life as precious, showing a belief that the act of providing food will ultimately return to her as a great blessing.
"Whether human or beast, a parent's heart is the same"
In the video, the grandmother revealed a deep affection for life by sharing food with hungry baby animals. Unconcerned by the gaze or criticism of those around her, she said, "Since humans live, beasts must eat too," noting that even though they are speechless beasts, she has grown deeply attached to them. In particular, watching the babies eat, she showed maternal love, recalling the days when she raised her own children and wanting to share the happiness of the moment of eating.
The grandmother also worried about situations where the babies could not eat well, expressing a sense of connection with the animals through the phrase, "Only when the babies eat can I eat too." This goes beyond the simple act of providing food, containing the philosophy that caring for life is the same as caring for oneself.
Belief in the blessings brought by the sincerity of feeding
The grandmother believes that providing food when they are hungry will become a great merit later on. Even if there are those around her who criticize her for feeding cats, she emphasizes that the good deeds performed for beasts are never in vain. Saying, "Anyone should put in more effort," she spoke of a way of life that devotes heart and effort to both humans and animals.
Furthermore, while living with past pains and apologies buried in her heart, she finds solace in life by reaching out a warm hand to the small lives before her eyes. Even amidst conversations mixed with longing and apology for her children, the grandmother's inability to turn away from hungry animals makes one rethink the value of respecting life.
