Yeoju Country House Couple Lives with 8 Pets, Including Horses from Gyeongju and a Meerkat

The daily life of Park Chang-deok and Choi Su-yeon, a couple living with eight pets including horses and a meerkat in a country house in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, has been revealed. According to a video from KBS 'Good Morning, Korea', the couple operates a ranch with a wide field approximately 1.5 times the size of a soccer field and lives with various animals as family members.

From horses from Gyeongju to a meerkat, a new home for 8 animals

Around the Yeoju house where the couple resides, wide fields stretch out where horses graze. Here, horses that were expelled from Gyeongju due to poor performance or horses that were being organized due to the suspension of experience centers live under the protection of the couple. The cast in the video mentioned that although these animals were raised by humans, they were abandoned or faced threats to their lives, and reported that the couple even obtained ranch permits themselves to care for them. Currently, the ranch includes horses such as Bada, Dooly, and Dolkong, and Ttangkong, who was rescued from a breeding farm, also lives there.

The animal family does not stop at horses. Inside the house lives the meerkat 'Bongi', and various living beings, such as the abandoned Mongi and the parrot Byeol, who was taken in due to an acquaintance's circumstances, live with the couple. The video captures the interior of the house, which features an animal-friendly structure connected through the 1st, 2nd, and basement floors, as well as a dedicated space prepared for the meerkat.

An animal-friendly house designed with high ceilings and wide windows

The house built by the couple is characterized by being designed with the animals' lives and the natural landscape in mind. The living room is designed with high ceilings that open up to the second floor, and windows are placed wide and high so that the green scenery can be enjoyed. The wife's room on the 1st floor can view the outside scenery through wide windows, and the husband's room is configured so that he can look out at the ranch to check on the condition of the horses.

Inside the house, spaces for hobbies are also provided. On the 2nd floor, there is a space equipped with audio equipment for the wife's hobby, and in the living room, a space is prepared where the husband can play the drums. Additionally, it features a large auxiliary kitchen where the whole family can gather, and is designed so that they can engage in indoor activities instead of outdoor activities during cold weather.

"A healthy space we want to leave to our children"

The couple practices a life of coexistence with nature by using horse manure as fertilizer to grow corn directly in the fields. In the video, the couple expressed that this house is a space they want to leave to their children. The couple shared their wish that when their children become adults later, they will remember this space created by their parents and that the whole family will continue to live healthily as they do now.
