A house with a swimming pool on Ganghwado Island: The daily water play of Ogu, a Retriever undergoing rehabilitation

According to a video from KBS Animal TV : Animal for You animal4u, the special daily life of Oh Ju-hyeon, her husband, and their pet dog Ogu, who lives in the lush forests of Ganghwado Island, has been revealed. Ogu, a Retriever who particularly loves water, showed his joy by throwing himself into every puddle encountered during walks.

The 'seal-like' habit of Retriever Ogu, who jumps into water whenever he sees it

Ogu, a five-year-old male, has a habit of seeking out water regardless of the location. When he discovers a puddle during a walk, his attachment to water is so strong that he enjoys a half-bath, regardless of his owner's calls. The video captures Ogu soaking in a puddle, along with his father's pet dog Bani, who follows behind Ogu into the puddle. Bani is a male pet dog one year younger than Ogu.

Upon returning home, Ogu runs to a rubber basin at the command "let's wash your paws," but this naturally leads to a full shower rather than just washing paws. For Ogu, who loves water, bathing in the yard is a daily joy. In the video, Ogu repeatedly enjoys playing in the water using the rubber basin, and after being cared for by the owner couple, he spends time drying his fur until it is fluffy. In particular, Ogu loves playing with the rubber basin so much that the play using the basin is repeated ten times in the video, showing his continuous enjoyment.

A swimming pool custom-designed for rehabilitation and meticulous care

Oh Ju-hyeon's house has a swimming pool specially made for Ogu. This pool was personally designed by her husband, Kim Ju-won, considering Ogu's condition. The water level of the pool is finely adjusted so that Ogu can walk out of the water at any time while swimming. Since the water would be too deep if it were too high, forcing him to only swim, this is the result of consideration so that Ogu can combine walking and swimming. Husband Kim Ju-won has been using this pool exclusively for Ogu throughout the summer.

There is a reason for creating such a meticulous environment. Ogu has a history of undergoing surgery on his right and left hind legs in succession. Last December, he underwent surgery on his left leg, and this April, he underwent artificial joint surgery on his right leg. The couple prioritizes making sure Ogu is not in pain, and they provide a customized swimming pool environment so that Ogu can enjoy rehabilitation exercises like play. Fortunately, Ogu is in the process of recovering, accepting rehabilitation like a game.

From meeting a timid puppy like fate to becoming a family

The connection between Ogu and the couple began on the wife's birthday. The couple, who had driven to a place with many large dogs, met the timid puppy Ogu there, who hid behind other dogs and would not show his face. The couple felt a strong attraction to Ogu, who was 5 months old at the time, and they became a family as if by fate.

The couple, who were living in a city apartment, decided to move to Ganghwado Island to provide a better environment for Ogu. Currently, they are spending a peaceful daily life in a house with a large yard and a swimming pool, where Ogu enjoys playing in the water to his heart's content and recovers his health. The couple feels happiness through this life with Ogu and is putting in meticulous effort for Ogu's healthy recovery.
