Anseong Fishing Site's Retriever Nureongi Performs Everything from Coffee Delivery to Water Quality Management

At a fishing site in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, a retriever that understands customers' orders and delivers items is becoming a hot topic. According to a video from KBS Animal TV : Animal for You animal4u, the retriever Nureongi, called the "part-time worker" of the Anseong fishing site, shows intelligence by accurately bringing the drinks or bait that customers want.

A 'genius dog' that understands customer orders and delivers coffee and bait

Nureongi, who helps the owner working alone without a manager at the fishing site, understands the customers' requirements surprisingly well. In the video, when a customer orders coffee, Nureongi runs to the owner to confirm the order, then carefully carries the container with the coffee in its mouth and delivers it to where the customer is located. It is not just coffee. Even in response to a customer's request for bait, Nureongi shows the ability to respond efficiently by bringing the bait in its mouth.

These abilities appear to be the result of learning rather than mere coincidence. In the video, after the production team taught a new word, 'simbangseok' (a type of seat), and commanded it to bark, it was confirmed that Nureongi recognizes the word through an experiment where it barked after understanding the word. The owner explained that Nureongi was originally a dog brought from an acquaintance, and at first, it was a rambunctious pup that ran around everywhere without knowing its leash, but since starting to be given errands around the age of five, it has become as clever as it is now.

500 won per errand, special treats and welfare for Nureongi

Customers are also expressing satisfaction with Nureongi's activities. Every time Nureongi performs an errand, the users of the fishing site give 500 won as a service fee. The owner stated that this collected money is used for Nureongi's welfare. Nureongi's favorite special treat is a dish boiled with chicken breast and vegetables, and after finishing work, Nureongi rests while eating this special treat.

A fishing site water quality manager that even collects trash from the water

Nureongi's role does not stop at simple delivery. Nureongi also participates in the cleaning work conducted periodically for the water quality management of the fishing site. In the video, when Nureongi discovers trash floating on the water, it dives into the water without hesitation and picks up the trash with its mouth. The sight of Nureongi not missing even the trash near the water's edge or in deep areas seems sufficient to perform the role of a water quality manager for the fishing site. The collected trash is gathered and organized in a prepared bag.
