Pet Company Employees Directly Feed Supplements, Confirming Changes in Oral Health and Heavy Metal Levels
Employees of the pet supplement brand Rei & Ibon have revealed the health changes and specific feeding methods they experienced while directly feeding their own products to their dogs. In a video released on the Korea Pet Nutrition Research Institute YouTube channel, employees in charge of product production and quality control shared vivid cases of how they utilize specific products to manage diseases and maintain the health of their actual pet dogs.
Products that helped alleviate periodontitis and bronchial symptoms
The employees stated that they selectively feed their company's products to improve specific symptoms in their dogs. An office team employee, who raises a 6-year-old Long-haired Chihuahua named Mini, mentioned an experience where Mini's gums turned red due to severe periodontitis. The employee confirmed that the gum condition subsided after feeding the product 'Peurapiseu,' and explained that Mini's symptoms, such as difficulty breathing or coughing and vomiting after drinking water due to a small appetite, also decreased. In particular, Peurapiseu was mentioned as a product where effects can be felt within a week.
The production team leader reported that for Terry, a dog with heart disease, they primarily feed snacks with low phosphorus (P) content and utilize Peurapiseu to alleviate tracheal collapse symptoms (coughing) and vomiting symptoms. Additionally, considering Terry's oral structure, which is prone to tartar buildup, they manage it by spraying Peurapiseu directly onto the gums after brushing teeth. In Terry's case, since the dog is taking medication due to heart disease, meticulous dietary management is being carried out, such as selecting snacks with low phosphorus content.
Visible changes such as reduction in heavy metal levels and improvement in stool condition
Long-term changes in health indicators through supplement feeding were also confirmed. The production team leader mentioned the effect of antioxidants, stating that after steadily feeding 'Magneta' for about two years, they confirmed that the heavy metal levels identified through the dog's hair test had significantly decreased. Furthermore, in the case of 'Procyon,' they said that when feeding was briefly suspended, the dog's stool became very thin and dry, but upon restarting the feeding, the stool returned to a moist condition, leading them to continue the feeding. Procyon requires refrigeration and is managed by feeding it as soon as the dog wakes up in the morning.
There were also cases of feeding 'Banakin' for dogs needing joint management. For a dog diagnosed with stage 1–2 patellar luxation in the hind legs, it was explained that management effects were seen, such as the sounds coming from the legs decreasing after feeding Banakin. In cases of eye health management, 'Kanotic' was also selected. In Mini's case, health is being managed by feeding a total of six products: Omega-3, Banakin, Magneta, Procyon, Kanotic, and Peurapiseu.
Effective supplement feeding methods and 'force-feeding' know-how
Practical feeding tips for pets that do not eat supplements well were also shared. Employees who feed the products directly use the 'force-feeding' method, where they open the pet's mouth and put the supplement deep inside, in addition to mixing it with snacks. One employee advised that although guardians may fear force-feeding, if you put it deep into the mouth, the dog cannot spit it out and swallows it, making it easier to feed than mixing it with snacks. In particular, they added that soft gel type products are often swallowed at once when put in by opening the mouth.
In the case of Peurapiseu, an oral health product, it was emphasized that spraying it directly into the mouth or onto the gums is most effective rather than simply mixing it with food. Jeong I-gyeong, an employee of five years, introduced the routine for her 7-year-old dog Haengbok: breakfast and supplement feeding before going to work, and spraying Peurapiseu directly onto the gums after brushing teeth. Haengbok often has redness around the mouth, and it was stated that spraying Peurapiseu helps soothe this. In Haengbok's case, because the dog has a picky appetite, the method of wrapping the supplement in snacks is utilized.
