Cats focused only on treats: How to create a hunting play routine

There are cats that try to end play quickly by demanding treats, which are the reward, as soon as hunting play begins. This is a case where the joy of eating precedes the joy of play. The video advises that for such cats, a process is needed to re-educate them on the rule that 'they can only eat treats if they hunt.'

The method is simple. Even if the cat sits in front of you demanding treats, you must not give up and must continue to induce play. However, one should avoid giving treats immediately just because the cat responded to a toy and started hunting. The video recommends a method of providing a small amount of treats after continuing play for about 5 minutes. After giving the treats, you can repeat the routine by putting the treats away again and inducing the next play session.
