Through a recent broadcast, Kwon shared the hardships of head family life along with her daily life of helping her husband's rehabilitation by riding a bike with him after he lost his memory due to sudden cardiac arrest.

An encounter with a 'tofu-faced' husband after two blind dates

Kwon Sun-mi is continuing the head family life as the 22nd generation head of the 2,000-year-old Seol clan, Yanggyeong branch. She recalled that her father had great worries when she married into the head family due to her free-spirited nature. This was because her inclination toward enjoying scuba diving or four-wheel-drive off-road driving was in stark contrast to the image of a dignified head family daughter-in-law.

Her meeting with her husband took place through two blind dates. Regarding the first blind date, Kwon revealed an experience where she had to wait alone for an hour at the meeting place, a cafe in front of the station, because she could not communicate with her partner. At that time, her husband's first impression was 'tofu-faced' (soft/gentle), and Kwon spoke honestly that she did not like the first meeting. Memory loss due to cardiac arrest, the affection of a couple awakened by a 'high-toned' voice

A sudden ordeal arrived during their happy married life. In May 2021, during a time when the couple visited Busan with the promise to ride bikes together, the husband suddenly collapsed due to cardiac arrest. Recalling the situation at the time, Kwon shared the urgent moment when she received a call from the police stating he had been found in a deceased state. Fortunately, his heart beat again through CPR, but after surgery that risked a brain-dead state, the husband regained consciousness after ten days.

However, due to the aftermath of the cardiac arrest, the husband suffered frontal lobe damage and currently only maintains memories of the present daily life. His memory has deteriorated to the point where he does not remember who he met even after turning around after meeting Yoo Jae-suk. Kwon is devotedly nursing him, taking care of his meals and excrement as if looking after a three-year-old child. She shared the moment when her husband responds to her voice, as she intentionally calls him 'Honey' in a high-pitched voice so that he can remember her.

The weight of life loaded on a 400kg bike, a breakthrough for rehabilitation

For Kwon, bike riding is more than just a hobby; it is an important means for her husband's rehabilitation. For her husband, whose movement is difficult and outings are hard, she personally drives a heavy bike to go out and get some fresh air. Kwon stated that she uses the bike as a breakthrough for outings with her husband, saying, "If he cannot ride himself, I can just ride in front and have my husband sit behind me."

The bike she uses is a large model with a weight approaching 370kg to 400kg. Kwon said that the process of controlling this heavy bike and carrying her husband on the back feels like the weight of her own life. She added, "I feel a sense of accomplishment and joy in supporting and riding this heavy bike," and noted that the process of climbing mountain passes with her husband, who balances the weight from behind, is a time for sharing the weight of life.
