The video shows the daily life of 26-year-old Seong-ju, who decided to remain a fisherman at Paldang Lake even after graduating from university. Having been netting for over 15 years since elementary school, Seong-ju has formed a bond with a fish named Hyangsun-i. The video captures Hyangsun-i, who was caught in a net two years ago, recognizing and welcoming Seong-ju. When asked why he wants to stay by the riverside, Seong-ju replied that there is no special reason; he just likes it. He makes his living catching fish locally known as 'ppagasal'.

Gumchi changed by sediment inflow, the lost spawning grounds of carp and crucian carp

In Seong-ju's village, there is a place called 'Gumchi' where carp and crucian carp used to gather every May to spawn. In the past, the spectacle of schools of fish was magnificent, but recently, it has become difficult to see fish here. Village residents point to the fact that mountains are being excavated due to the residential complexes built nearby, causing sediment to flow into Gumchi as the cause. A severe stench is being generated from the sediment accumulated in Gumchi.

The grandmother who believes in the Dragon King and residents under regulations

The story of Kim Yeon-hui, a grandmother who performs a ritual for the Dragon King every Jeongwol Daeboreum (first full moon of the lunar year), is also told. Coming from a family that has served as boatmen for generations, the grandmother continues the tradition, believing in the existence of the Dragon King. However, her house is currently facing difficulties because it is not registered. As outsiders have bought up all the surrounding land, it has become difficult to create an access road required for permits. Furthermore, because there are many regulations around Paldang Lake to protect the water source, residents face restrictions in conducting economic activities or utilizing their land. Seong-ju's father also had to hand over his fields to outsiders to make a living.
