As Peugeot accelerates its transition from diesel engines to hybrids, it has introduced the '3008 Hybrid' model, which emphasizes efficiency. According to the AutoView - Car & Tire Buying Guide video, this model breaks away from the typical SUV framework, aiming for a fastback SUV style with a low and long roofline, showcasing unique design and handling performance.

Jerking in City Driving and Reduced Ride Comfort due to Strong Regenerative Braking

The behavior of the 3008 Hybrid in city driving environments showed several distinct characteristics. First, it is equipped with a dual-clutch transmission that houses a motor; the characteristic jerking that occurs when the clutch engages as the brake pedal is released from a standstill has been improved, effectively managing the unpleasantness during the engine start process. However, it was pointed out that the intensity of the regenerative braking that occurs when lifting the foot off the accelerator pedal is quite high.

The video explained that because the battery capacity is small, regenerative braking is actively utilized to increase efficiency, resulting in a loss of ride comfort during braking. This is not considered advantageous in terms of ride comfort when compared to the regenerative braking of electric vehicles. In particular, despite being a model that could be considered a family car, the evaluation was that the vertical ride comfort felt in the rear seats when passing over continuous bumps is somewhat rough, ranking in the lower tier. The analysis suggests that the suspension is focused on handling performance, so it lacks sufficient elasticity.

Hill Creep Phenomenon and Handling Performance in High-Speed Driving

Disappointing aspects were identified regarding driving stability on slopes. When starting after stopping on a hill, Hill Start Assist operates to hold the vehicle for about 3 seconds, but a phenomenon occurs where the vehicle creeps when the accelerator pedal is pressed and then released. The video mentioned that a function to control the brakes when a certain amount of creeping occurs needs to be supplemented for safety.

On the other hand, it showed a different side during high-speed driving. While the total system output of 145 horsepower (combined motor output) does not provide very exhilarating acceleration, it offers decent performance for everyday driving. In particular, the stability and handling performance during high-speed driving were outstanding. The handling, which is a strength unique to the France brand, is well-maintained, showing a characteristic where the front axle moves agilely with only minute steering manipulations. However, it was confirmed that due to the limitations of the battery capacity, it is difficult to use the maximum output continuously. A characteristic feature is that it is difficult to maintain the maximum output for about 1 minute once the battery is fully used.

Fastback Style Design and Features of the Panoramic i-Cockpit

In terms of design, the 3008 Hybrid adopts a 'fastback SUV' style that differentiates it from existing SUVs. Although it is a compact SUV size with a length of approximately 4.5m and a wheelbase of approximately 2.7m, it realizes a sporty image through its low and long roofline. The front features a gradient pattern grille that naturally flows with the body color, and lion-claw shaped pixel LED headlamps and tail lamps add personality. The drag coefficient is at a level of approximately 0.28. The side reduces unnecessary decoration and chrome, and is equipped with 19-inch wheels and efficiency-focused MICHELIN e.PRIMACY tires.

The core of the interior is the 'Panoramic i-Cockpit' which applies a 21-inch curved display. The instrument cluster and infotainment screen are connected as one to provide a sense of visual openness, and a lounge-like atmosphere is created by using fabric materials extensively. However, disappointing elements in terms of usability include the fact that the uniquely designed steering wheel may obscure part of the instrument cluster depending on the driver's physique, and the touch-type i-Toggles and buttons lack intuitiveness compared to physical buttons. The gear selector is placed next to the steering wheel, and the center console provides ample storage space and a wireless charging pad.
