Takoyaki is made by putting finely chopped octopus into flour batter, cooking it in a takoyaki machine, and then topping it with takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise, and katsuobushi. You can also easily make takoyaki at home.
How to make takoyaki
Takoyaki ingredients: 110g takoyaki powder, 1 cup (200ml) water, 1 egg, 50g boiled octopus, 1 cabbage leaf, 3 stalks of green onion, 1 tbsp cooking oil
Sub-ingredients: 5g katsuobushi, 3 tbsp takoyaki sauce, 3 tbsp mayonnaise
Substitute for takoyaki sauce: tonkatsu sauce1. Put the takoyaki powder, egg, and water in a bowl and mix well to make the takoyaki batter.
2. Finely chop the cabbage and thinly slice the green onions. Cut the octopus into 1cm cubes.
3. Brush cooking oil onto the heated takoyaki pan and fill the molds about halfway with batter.
4. Add the octopus, cabbage, and green onions, then pour in more batter to fill the mold.
5. Use a skewer to flip the pieces while cooking until they are golden brown and round.
6. Place them on a plate and top with katsuobushi, takoyaki sauce, and mayonnaise to finish.
