In such moments, why not try making sweet snacks with homemade condensed milk?

Making condensed milk at home

Condensed milk can readily be made at home with just milk and sugar. The ratio should be 5 parts milk to 1 part sugar. First, pour 500ml of milk into a pot and boil it over medium heat. When bubbles begin to form and the milk starts to boil, add 100ml of sugar and simmer over low heat. Be careful, as the milk may overflow once it starts boiling. While reducing the milk, stir it occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the pot. When the volume of milk is reduced to about 1/3, it reaches a consistency similar to commercially available condensed milk. Once it has thickened sufficiently, place the pot in cold water to cool it down. Then, pour it into a sterilized glass jar and store it in the refrigerator. Since homemade condensed milk has a short shelf life, it is best to consume it as soon as possible.

- Boil chestnuts and peel them cleanly, including the inner skin. (Instead of boiled chestnuts, canned chestnuts or snack-type chestnuts can be used.)

- Add condensed milk to the boiled chestnuts, mash them, and place them in a pot.

- Warm 2/3 of the milk and pour it into a glass, then add the mashed chestnuts and mix.

- Use a steamer to froth the remaining milk and pour it on top.

3. Sweet condensed milk French toast

- Mix milk, eggs, and condensed milk to make an egg wash.

- Soak slices of white bread in the egg wash until evenly saturated.

- After greasing a frying pan with oil or butter, cook the egg-soaked bread on both sides until golden brown.

- Drizzle a little condensed milk over the finished French toast according to your preference.

4. Fried flower buns that are tastier than expected

- Pour oil into a pot and heat it over medium heat until it reaches 180 degrees Celsius.

- Carefully place the flower buns into the 180-degree oil.

- Fry for 4 to 5 minutes, flipping occasionally, until both sides turn brown.

- Drain the fried flower buns using a strainer, then remove excess oil with a paper towel.

- Dip the crispy fried flower buns generously in sweet condensed milk.
