Recently, more people have been baking their own bread and cookies at home. The appeal of home baking lies not only in the fun of making food yourself, but also in being able to enjoy it fresh from the oven. Although it depends on the type of bread or cookie, it would be hard to find anyone who does not enjoy them freshly baked. If you usually enjoy bread or cookies, why not try home baking and experience the taste of treats you have baked yourself?

Baking Tools and Ingredients

To bake at home, you need baking tools and ingredients. Essential home-baking tools include an oven, scale, measuring cup, hand mixer, whisk, spatula and piping bag. Of these, the oven, scale and measuring cup are the most important. An oven is essential for baking bread or cookies, while even a small measuring error can cause baking to fail, so you should buy a scale and measuring cup that allow measurements in 1-gram increments. Other cookie and bread-making ingredients vary by recipe and can easily be purchased online or at physical stores.

Home Baking—Ganache

Ganache is a dessert that can be made without an oven, one of the most important baking tools. The French word “ganache” means “fool” or “idiot.” It is said that the name comes from an incident at a 19th-century French confectionery factory, where an apprentice foolishly poured boiling milk into a bowl of chocolate and accidentally created it. Ganache can range in texture from soft like butter to firm like fudge. In home baking, it can be used as a filling for macarons, brownies and other treats, or enjoyed on its own, so it is worth learning how to make it.

How to Make Ganache

When making ganache at home, bear in mind that chocolate is highly sensitive to moisture and will harden if water gets into it. If you want to try making ganache, it is therefore best to remove any moisture from your baking tools. You should also take care to maintain the temperature because the ganache begins to set when it falls below 35°C.

Ingredients: 100 g chocolate, 100 g heavy cream, piping bag, ganache mold

1. Place the chocolate in a container and melt it in the microwave.

2. Pour the heavy cream into a container and bring it to a boil over low heat.

3. When the cream begins to bubble around the edges, pour in the melted chocolate and stir.

4. For step 3, mix as gently as possible to avoid incorporating air.

5. Transfer the well-mixed ganache to a piping bag.

6. Pipe it into the ganache mold and let it set to complete the ganache.
