Sweet figs and how to make fig jam
Figs contain about 10% sugar and are eaten fresh or dried; the recipe makes fig jam with sugar and lemon juice.
Figs are the fruit of the fig tree, which belongs to the Moraceae family. Figs are round in shape with various skin colors, and they have a strong sweet taste due to a sugar content of about 10%. They are mainly used to make syrup, fig wine, or fig brandy, and can also be eaten dried or fresh in Korea and Japan.
How to make sweet fig jam
Ingredients: 1kg figs, 400g sugar, 2T lemon juice
Cooking Steps
1. Gently wash well-ripened figs under running water.
2. Cut off the stems and remove as much moisture as possible.
3. Cut the figs into about 8 pieces and place them in a pot. (If you dislike the texture of pieces, you may blend them in a mixer.)
4. Add sugar and lemon juice to the pot.
5. Stir the fruit so that the sugar dissolves well.
6. Once the sugar has dissolved to some extent, boil over medium heat.
7. Cook thoroughly while stirring to prevent sticking; the jam is ready when fully cooked down.
