Visit Seoul AI Chatbot Recommends Personalized Seoul Courses Using 30,000 Tourism Data Points

When tourists visiting Seoul want to find local spots favored by residents instead of already famous places like Myeong-dong or Hongdae, the AI chatbot of the 'Visit Seoul' platform, operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Organization, can be a useful tool.

According to a Culture Portal video, the Visit Seoul AI chatbot operates based on approximately 30,000 tourism data points held by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Organization. When a user enters their travel style and specific conditions, it suggests an optimal travel route tailored to them. A key feature is that it does not simply list famous places, but can reflect the user's specific requirements.

"Close to vegan restaurants"... Customized design reflecting detailed conditions

The presenter in the video demonstrated how to use it by presenting specific conditions to the AI chatbot from the perspective of a foreign tourist. They entered conditions in English: visiting Seoul in early September, wanting programs to experience Korean culture rather than crowded places, needing vegan restaurants, and ensuring the distance between recommended attractions and restaurants is not far.

In response, the AI chatbot suggested an itinerary to visit Jogyesa Temple to experience Korean Buddhist culture, then visit a nearby temple food center, and stroll through the traditional shop streets of Insa-dong. In particular, it completed a one-day itinerary that faithfully reflected the 'vegan' and 'travel distance' conditions presented by the user, such as recommending 'Ogahyang', a vegan Korean restaurant in Insa-dong, for lunch.

Supports 4 languages including Korean, service expansion planned for the future

To lower language barriers, the Visit Seoul AI chatbot supports four languages: Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese. Users can make travel plans by asking questions in the language they are most comfortable with. The video stated that the scope of support is planned to expand to include Russian and Malay in the future.

The Visit Seoul platform provides recommendations for regional attractions and restaurants, as well as information on festivals and programs by period. It can be used not only during the planning stage before a trip but also for immediately checking information when questions arise locally after arriving in Seoul.
