Samgilpo Port in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, is a place with a unique landscape where floating fish markets on the sea coexist with land-based seafood direct sales centers. According to a recent video from the YouTube channel 'Suwon Man', the two types of markets available when visiting Samgilpo Port showed distinct differences in seafood prices, payment convenience, and included components. The video, filmed around 4:30 PM on September 12, 2026, compares the actual market prices of the floating fish markets and the seafood direct sales centers, detailing the characteristics of each location.

Differences in Price and Payment Methods between Floating Fish Markets and Seafood Direct Sales Centers

The floating fish markets of Samgilpo Port are places where seafood is sold directly from boats, characterized by the outdoor atmosphere of slicing sashimi on the sea. According to the comparison in the video, the price of rockfish at the floating fish markets was confirmed to be around 25,000 won per 1kg. On the other hand, the price of rockfish at the land-based seafood direct sales centers (such as Bomi Susan) was around 30,000 won per 1kg, forming a price about 5,000 won higher than the floating fish markets.

The biggest difference between the two is the payment method and composition. While the floating fish markets have a good atmosphere on-site, they do not accept card payments, causing the inconvenience of having to use bank transfers. Additionally, if you package sashimi here, you must purchase seasonings such as red chili paste (chojang) separately. The participant in the video chose the seafood direct sales center, where card payments are possible and seasonings like red chili paste can be used together, even though there is a 5,000 won difference. In the case of the seafood direct sales centers, the aquariums are well-maintained, and they are also characterized by slicing sashimi quickly with skilled knife skills.

Types of Seafood and Recent Market Price Status

Samgilpo Port is a place where fresh rockfish can be found as rockfish farming is active. In the video, the market prices of various seafood such as sea squirts, squid, conger eel, pomfret, and jichi were also confirmed. Sea squirts were being sold at around 15,000 to 20,000 won for silk sea squirts and fire sea squirts, squid was traded at 15,000 won per piece, and conger eel was traded at around 10,000 won. Various items such as pomfret and jichi are being sold, but due to the recent impact of rockfish die-offs, the overall seafood market price is in an atmosphere of rising due to the increase in auction unit prices. Despite the situation where fishermen, merchants, and consumers all feel the burden of prices, the unique seafood of Samgilpo Port still attracts many visitors. In particular, bulsorra brought from the Jeollanam-do region was sold at around 20,000 won per 1kg.

The Taste of Samgilpo Port Enjoyed with 'Mul-twigim' Cooking

The video introduced 'Mul-twigim', an exotic cooking method that can be enjoyed at Samgilpo Port. Mul-twigim is a method of lightly blanching freshly sliced sashimi in hot water. Going through this process prevents the sashimi from colliding, allowing it to be eaten safely, and after squeezing the moisture out tightly with a dehydrator, one can enjoy a savory texture like popcorn. In the video, Mul-twigim using conger eel was introduced, and it was emphasized that the appearance after going through the dehydrator is like popcorn.

The participant prepared 30,000 won worth of rockfish purchased from the seafood direct sales center, 24,000 won worth of eel prepared as Mul-twigim, and 1kg of bulsorra (20,000 won) to enjoy a meal outdoors. Samgilpo Port is well-equipped with breakwaters for fishing and an environment for camping, adding to the charm of the trip by enjoying sashimi and a glass of soju outdoors while feeling the sea breeze.
