Yeongnam Alps Silver Grass Harvest: Why Sinbuljae and Ganwoljae Remain Beautiful Despite the Drought

Despite the record-breaking drought continuing this year, the silver grass at Sinbuljae and Ganwoljae, representative silver grass spots of the Yeongnam Alps, is showing a lush appearance. According to the Samugangcheon TV - "Introducing Good Travel Destinations" video, contrary to concerns about the impact of the drought, the silver grass in the Yeongnam Alps area is in a sufficient state to enjoy the autumn atmosphere.

Silver Grass Ridge Course from Yeongchuksan to Sinbuljae

The hike begins at the Sinpyeong Bus Terminal near Tongdosa Temple. It takes about 7 minutes from the terminal to the Meeting Plaza, after which the hike continues toward Yeongchuksan. The presenter in the video passes the Chuksam point, which appears after climbing for about 5 minutes from the Meeting Plaza, and then proceeds with a hike for more than about 1 hour along a pine tree path.

The Yeongchuk Ridge section, which follows after reaching the summit of Yeongchuksan, is a place where the silver grass forms a spectacular sight. The presenter conveyed the scenery on site, saying, "I thought the silver grass wouldn't be good due to this year's drought, but the silver grass is very good." In particular, Sinbuljae is one of the landscapes of Ulsan and is considered one of the most beautiful scenic spots within the Yeongnam Alps. It takes about 20 minutes from Sinbuljae to the summit of Sinbulsan, and about 40 minutes is required when moving from the summit to Ganwoljae.

Autumn Scenery of Ganwoljae, Where Mountain Lovers Gather

Ganwoljae, reached after passing Sinbulsan, is a famous spot where the most mountain climbers gather among the Yeongnam Alps. The video shows the autumn atmosphere through the sight of the silver grass at Ganwoljae swaying in the wind. The presenter mentioned that the silver grass at Ganwoljae continues along the ridge and that the silver grass in a certain section is particularly more beautiful.

Precautions for hiking were also shared. The presenter advised that if one uses too much strength in the early stages of the hike, they may become exhausted later, so it is important to walk slowly and save strength at the beginning. Additionally, they urged caution during hiking, pointing out that some of the signposts near the summit of Sinbulsan are marked differently from the actual path.

Meanwhile, a mountain film festival will be held at the Yeongnam Alps Complex Welcome Center starting from September 18 in the Yeongnam Alps area, and an Odyssey performance is scheduled for October 3 at 1 PM.
