How Can a Dog Change Your Life?
Grant Feller’s bond with his Cockapoo Ziggy helped him through depression and transformed his understanding of dogs’ devotion and value.
However, Grant Feller explained how his views on dogs changed in an article for The Telegraph. Feller said, “I thought only people who felt no affection for humans loved dogs. But I was mistaken, and that belief came from my reluctance to look inside the human heart.”
Feller admitted that he developed a special bond after welcoming Ziggy, a Cockapoo puppy, into his life. They were both introverted and shared a preference for quiet time. Feller recalled that they were able to get through difficult times by needing each other, especially when he felt depressed. “Ziggy helped me recognize many of the things I had tried to avoid in life,” Feller said. He came to understand how he fit in with other people and appreciate the true value of things that had once seemed meaningless. “Dogs enrich our lives and help us get back on our feet,” Feller emphasized.
Feller had never expected a dog to affect his life. He therefore confessed that he still found it difficult to accept a dog’s devoted affection. Yet Feller said, “Ziggy’s eyes, tail and barking calm me down,” adding that his dog had become a precious, inseparable part of his life.
