[FAM Times reporter Jennylyn Gianan] The Russian Blue is a beautiful, elegant, intelligent, and independent cat. It may be somewhat haughty and aloof. Nevertheless, the Russian Blue has what it takes to be the ideal companion cat.

First of all, it has a striking appearance. These cats are exceptionally attractive. Their sleek, slender bodies resemble models on cat food packaging, while their long legs give them an elegant look. For these reasons, Russian Blues frequently appear in television commercials.

They may look large, but they actually are not. A Russian Blue's double coat makes it appear bigger than it really is, but beneath the fur lies a slender, strong, and active body.

Their coat color is distinctive. Their appealing silver-gray coat appears blue under the light.

Russian Blues have captivating eyes. When they reach adulthood, their eye color changes to a vivid green, becoming brighter and more intense with age. This eye color is widely admired on social media and elsewhere.

They are calmer than other breeds. They are easy to train and, unlike other breeds, do not lose their temper quickly.

Russian Blues are highly playful. Although shy and reserved, once they feel comfortable, they enjoy showing affection more than any other cat.

Therefore, if you understand a cat's needs for space and attention, consider keeping a Russian Blue.
