Learn how to make pan-fried tofu with a soy sauce seasoning or an oriental dressing, plus tips for frying and serving it.

Pan-fried tofu is especially appealing because it lets the tofu's natural flavor shine. If it seems underseasoned, a seasoning sauce can add more flavor. It is versatile enough to serve alongside various kinds of jeon (Korean pancakes) or an assorted jeon platter. Let's take a closer look at its appeal and several ways to prepare it.

Making pan-fried tofu using soy sauce and oriental dressing

Making pan-fried tofu is simpler than you might think. For one serving, prepare 44.6 g of tofu, 1.4 g of soybean oil, and 0.3 g of salt. For the seasoning sauce, prepare soy sauce, sesame oil, green onion, red pepper powder, and sesame seeds. Cut the tofu into bite-sized pieces and pat them dry. Add cooking oil to a frying pan and cook the tofu until golden brown on both sides.

Mix 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and about 1/2 tablespoon of red pepper powder with suitable amounts of minced green onion, chili pepper, and sesame seeds. This makes a delicious seasoning sauce for the tofu. Pan-fried tofu is not particularly difficult to make, but its flavor varies depending on how it is fried and how the seasonings are combined. Pay attention to these details if you want to create a variety of flavors.

Pan-fried tofu is usually served with a soy sauce-based seasoning sauce, but an oriental dressing can add even more savory flavor. To make this version, prepare 1 block of tofu and a handful of baby greens.

For the oriental dressing, prepare 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1/2 tablespoon of vinegar, 1/2 tablespoon of honey, 1/2 tablespoon of sesame seeds, and 4 tablespoons of olive oil. Slice the tofu into bite-sized pieces and pat them dry with a paper towel. Briefly soak the baby greens in cold water to refresh them, then drain them in a sieve. Combine all the dressing ingredients in a bowl and mix well.

Pan-fry the tofu as described above, then use a paper towel to remove excess moisture and oil. Arrange the tofu pieces neatly on a plate and top each one with a small amount of baby greens. Drizzle the oriental sauce over them to complete the dish.

Pan-fried tofu is an excellent accompaniment to rice, and adding a variety of ingredients can make it even better. Serve it with your own flavorful sauce to enjoy a different take on its flavor.
