The Cause of POE2 Beginners Quitting is Wrong Guides… Shindongdengdong Recommends "Starting with Soselliseu and transitioning to Barasita"
Game YouTuber Shindongdengdong analyzed the cause of the so-called "death" phenomenon, where users first encountering 'Path of Exile 2 (POE2)' give up on the game during the early stages, and shared an introductory character and management method to prevent this.
"YouTube starter builds are for veterans"... Pointing out the cause of beginner attrition
In the video, Shindongdengdong cited 'wrong guides' as the reason why many users fail to pass the Act section immediately after starting the game and give up. He explained that this is because most popular 'starter build' videos released on YouTube and other platforms involve completely overhauling the build during the character's growth process and endgame stage.

He explained, "While popular builds have a high ceiling after growth, there are many cases where you must continuously change the build during Act progression or at the point of ascendancy." He added, "Since this game requires immense time and cost to change a build, it is hellish for a beginner to continuously modify a build by following YouTube videos." In other words, his analysis is that the burden of cost and time caused by trying to follow guides intended for experts rather than beginners leads to mid-way abandonment.
"Start with Soselliseu"... Recommending a character with no item swaps
Shindongdengdong suggested a path of starting as 'Soselliseu' and ascending to 'Barasita' as the most suitable character for beginners. He noted that as a result of his own verification, the strength of Barasita is that there is no need to change the character's core settings from after the first ascendancy up to the level 92 tier 15 farming stage.

He added, "As the character level rises, the main dealing skill becomes stronger, and stability increases as the number of summons increases through ascendancy." He further explained, "Since weapon damage does not directly affect the skill, the burden regarding item options is low, and it is sufficient to simply purchase items related to summon skill levels from the shop." Also, regarding the prejudice that summon builds might not be fun, he explained, "Because it is a way of giving commands, it gives the feeling of a mage carrying summons around, so it is sufficiently fun."
"336 Atlas Points at once"... The optimal timing to enter this season
He mentioned the simplification of the 'Atlas Points' system as the reason why this event season is the optimal time to start. This season is designed such that defeating the 'Arbiter of Ash' boss just once unlocks all 336 Atlas Points, meaning users do not need to delay farming or choose inefficient routes to secure points.
Shindongdengdong recommended that when entering the endgame, "clear maps using the lowest grade Waystones to open the path, and then use high-grade Waystones only where strong bosses are located." He continued by emphasizing that since there are no balance patches this season, it is fine to use guides from the previous season as they are, and advised that the frustration in the early stages is a natural part of the game, so rather than struggling too hard to do well, beginners should accept it as a stage to become accustomed to the controls.
