Depression That Came After the Cancellation of Comedy Shows and the Heart of His Family
Appearing on the tvN variety program 'You Quiz on the Block', Kim Won-hun confessed the sense of helplessness he felt during the period when comedy programs, including 'Comedy Big League', were being cancelled in 2020. Having debuted in 2015, he said he initially worried about his talent because it was difficult to pass corner selections, and after the programs were cancelled, he suffered from severe depression. Kim Won-hun shared that at that time, he spent long hours lying in a dark room with the curtains drawn, playing on his phone or computer games.
In particular, Kim Won-hun drew sympathy by mentioning his mother's feelings, which he had not realized at the time. According to Kim Won-hun's explanation, his mother at the time was worried that when her son came home, he might feel burdened or walk on eggshells after seeing her lethargic appearance. Because of this, he shared an anecdote that his mother was even afraid to enter the house and would sometimes walk around a park near their home for several hours before coming inside.
The Success of a YouTube Channel Started with the Determination "Let's Just Try for 6 Months"
In the midst of the hopeless situation, Kim Won-hun found a new breakthrough with his colleague Jin-se. While making a living working as a recreation instructor, he and Jin-se set a goal to "just work hard for exactly 6 months" and opened a YouTube channel 'Shorts'. It was a challenge they started with a promise that if they did not see results within 6 months, they would return to being recreation instructors.
Kim Won-hun revealed that he invested an average of about 8 hours into creating a single script to operate the channel. Following these efforts, the channel successfully established itself, and he is currently continuing active activities.
Yoo Jae-suk's Love for Juniors, "I Want to Resemble That Side"
Kim Won-hun also mentioned his connection with senior Yoo Jae-suk and the influence he received from him. He expressed deep gratitude for how Yoo Jae-suk remembered his name and encouraged him by saying, "I'm watching you well," during his rookie days. Mentioning how Yoo Jae-suk treats juniors to dinners or carries cash in his wallet to give them taxi fare or pocket money, he said, "I should absorb that side too."
Kim Won-hun expressed his will to emulate these actions of Yoo Jae-suk, adding that it is a good direction to resemble the warm consideration shown by his seniors.
