Hyeon-sil, facing a 15kg weight surge in one year and an adenomyosis diagnosis, expresses "anxiety about developing diabetes"
The case of Hyeon-sil, a housewife in her 40s whose health has signaled red flags due to a 15kg weight surge within one year, has been revealed. Previously maintaining a weight of 48kg at a height of 173cm, Hyeon-sil began gaining weight following childbirth, with her weight increasing up to 90kg, experiencing symptoms where fat concentrated particularly in the abdomen.
Hyeon-sil's health status, diagnosed with adenomyosis and acute lymphadenitis
Along with the rapid weight increase, Hyeon-sil complained of physical pain. In the video, it was reported that Hyeon-sil, who visited the hospital due to sudden abdominal pain, was diagnosed with adenomyosis as well as ovarian cysts. Adenomyosis is a condition where endometrial tissue grows abnormally, causing the entire uterine muscle to enlarge. While the normal thickness of the uterine muscle is about 2.5cm, Hyeon-sil's uterus had enlarged to nearly 5cm. The video mentioned that while a hysterectomy could be effective, there were concerns that in Hyeon-sil's case, laparoscopy might not be possible due to excessive abdominal fat.
Additionally, Hyeon-sil suffered from chronic dermatitis that occurs when her body heats up and pain in her armpits. As a result of examinations, this was confirmed to be 'acute lymphadenitis' caused by foreign substances such as fat accumulating in the lymph, which filters waste from the body. Hyeon-sil stated that she experienced a symptom where a lump about the size of a ping-pong ball could be felt in her armpit area.
Repeated yo-yo effect and anxiety regarding family history
Hyeon-sil attempted intermittent fasting, consuming detox products, and exercising to lose weight, but she struggled with a repeated yo-yo effect. She said that her weight continues to increase, setting a new maximum weight every year, such as gaining 17kg again after losing 15kg. She also went to the mountains to exercise, but due to her weight, she experiences knee pain, such as hearing sounds from her knees when going to the mountains, which limits her ability to exercise continuously.
Hyeon-sil expressed anxiety about her health while mentioning her family history. She stated that her father had stomach cancer, her mother had breast cancer and issues with her uterus, and her older brother suffers from diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and high blood pressure. In particular, Hyeon-sil expressed concern about the possibility of developing diabetes due to fat, saying, "I am anxious that I might become like my brother and develop diabetes."
Efforts to recover health through a low-carbohydrate diet
To recover her health, Hyeon-sil is focusing on dietary control. In the past, she enjoyed carbohydrates and spicy, salty foods, such as filling a bowl completely with white rice, but she has now significantly reduced her rice intake. The video captures Hyeon-sil eating a diet centered on vegetables with almost no seasoning, reducing the amount of rice instead of white rice.
