A 101kg woman's struggle with dieting: managing diet with children's meal trays and chicken breast rice
The process of a 31-year-old female informant striving to overcome weight gain that has persisted for 10 years, along with the resulting physical pain and skin diseases, has been revealed. According to a video from TV CHOSUN LIFE, the informant is currently in a state of super obesity with her weight exceeding 101kg, and her abdominal obesity levels are also at a serious level.
A diet diary recorded for 10 years and diet management know-how
For the past 10 years, the informant has been managing herself by keeping a notebook containing her weight, waking and sleeping times, food intake history, and exercise records. Although she had the experience of losing 15kg in a single month in the past, her weight increased again after experiencing a yo-yo effect. Currently, to control her meal portions, she has chosen to use a children's meal tray, which is half the size of an adult's, instead of an adult tray. This is being utilized as a special measure to reduce overeating.
She is also using her own methods for meal composition. To reduce the dryness that occurs when boiling chicken breast in plain water, she uses a method of cooking the chicken breast together when making rice. Additionally, for a regular eating lifestyle, she sets alarms for meal times and proceeds with meals according to the scheduled times.
Physical pain and the suffering of skin diseases caused by weight gain
Due to rapid weight gain, the informant is experiencing everyday physical pain. Although she practices walking 10,000 steps every day, she complained of symptoms such as repeatedly having to sit down while walking or experiencing leg cramps due to joint pain worsened by her weight. In particular, she is suffering from heat and itching due to skin tinea symptoms, where fungus spreads in areas where skin folds. According to the subtitles and explanation in the video, the fungus that develops in areas where skin folds and lacks ventilation can be a cause of inflammation and lymphatic diseases.
Furthermore, the informant stated that she is suffering from chronic constipation. She mentioned that in the past, her condition was so severe that it took 20 days to go to the bathroom, but recently the condition has improved somewhat.
The impact of carbohydrate addiction and obesity on the body
The informant explained that she enjoyed carbohydrate-rich foods in the past and had an eating habit of eating until she was full every time she ate. The video explains the cause of how such excessive carbohydrate intake triggers addiction. The rapid rise in blood sugar that occurs upon carbohydrate intake increases insulin secretion, which leads to 'carbohydrate addiction' by stimulating the release of dopamine in the brain, making one demand more carbohydrates. In fact, the content includes that 65% of South Koreans are exposed to the risk of obesity due to excessive carbohydrate intake.
Obesity goes beyond a simple matter of weight and becomes a cause of chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia. In particular, visceral fat accumulates on blood vessel walls, obstructing blood flow and potentially causing various vascular diseases. The video warned of the dangers of obesity by delivering research findings that obesity can increase the probability of developing geriatric diseases such as dementia.
