IDID Performs Digital Detox by Putting Down Cell Phones During Temple Stay
Members of the group IDID spent time practicing digital detox and mental healing by participating in a temple stay at Myojeoksa Temple for Chuseok. According to the released video, the members participated in this schedule to celebrate the holiday by putting down their cell phones and resting together with their families.
Digital Detox Starting with Cell Phone Submission
Before starting the temple stay, the members of IDID submitted all of their cell phones for a digital detox. In the video, the members went through the process of gathering and submitting their phones after setting them to do-not-disturb mode. The members talked about their usual cell phone usage habits, mentioning daily habits such as a member who cannot let go of their phone even when brushing teeth or showering.
Offering Food and Tea Time at Myojeoksa Temple
Upon arriving at Myojeoksa Temple, the members learned basic temple etiquette from a monk and proceeded with 'Gongyang,' the meal. The monk guided them that practicing silence (Mugeon) during Gongyang is also a form of ascetic practice. After the meal, they had a tea time while drinking Pu'er tea. During this time, the members engaged in various conversations, such as asking the monk about the process of becoming a monk or listening to stories about the Buddhist concept of reincarnation.
Additionally, the members had time to convey their feelings toward one another. They expressed gratitude to the member who silently helped with the dishes at the lodging or the member who cleaned up the trash, and they exchanged blessings while making and gifting prayer bead bracelets that they had prepared. In particular, the members expressed their wishes for each other's health and their desire to continue performing on stage together in the future.
180 Prostrations and Meditation in Nature
In the following schedule, the members performed 180 prostrations, which carry the meaning of letting go of worldly desires or making wishes. Following the monk's guidance, the members continued to bow, engaging in the practice while sweating. After finishing the practice, a meditation session utilizing the five senses followed in nature, where the sound of a waterfall could be heard. Through meditation, the members shared the experience of their minds becoming peaceful while focusing on the sounds of nature.
