This is because the fact that delicious treats always follow the sound of plastic has been imprinted in the brain. Interestingly, dogs can distinguish between the sounds of food bags, treat bags, and regular plastic bags through subtle differences in frequency.

The tone of a human voice is also a crucial factor determining a dog's reaction. Dogs react much more strongly to high pitches (dog-directed speech) than low pitches; a high-pitched voice is perceived as a signal that is friendly and non-threatening, increasing a dog's concentration by more than 40%. On the other hand, the low pitch characteristic of men can make a dog tense.
