A Day Trip to Tsushima

Japan's Tsushima, better known to Koreans as Daemado, is an island located between Korea and Japan's Kyushu region. Although it is closer than Jeju Island and can feel like a domestic destination, it is in another country, so travelers must remember to bring their passports. The trip takes about one to two hours from Busan, and the island can be reached through two ports: Izuhara in the south and Hitakatsu in the north.

Tsushima Attraction 1: Miuda Beach

Miuda Beach is a good place to visit even when traveling alone in Tsushima. This natural beach has fine sand and beautiful emerald-green water. The rocky cliffs around Miuda Beach are covered with lush trees, creating a pleasing sight. The beach is also ideal for exploring on foot, as it can be reached in just a 30-minute walk from Hitakatsu Port. A campground operates there in summer, making it a good place to try camping.

Tsushima Attraction 2: Eboshidake Observatory

Eboshidake Observatory, one of Tsushima's best-known observation points, offers spectacular views of the ria coastline. It has parking facilities and restrooms, and visitors can take photos from the observation park. It is also the only place on Tsushima offering a 360-degree view. Visitors can see the scenery and ridgelines around Aso Bay, while the path leading up to the observatory is particularly beautiful. It is a must-visit destination for anyone who enjoys natural scenery and hiking.
