How to Make Money While Traveling Abroad
Freelancing, language teaching, service jobs, and overseas assignments can help fund long-term international travel.
Here are several jobs well suited to working while traveling abroad.
Mapping Megan explained, “Freelancing is the most common way to earn money while traveling.” You can work as a freelance writer or marketer. Other options include web design, software engineering, data entry, editing, translation, or online tutoring. Since you can work anytime and anywhere, you can earn a living while traveling wherever you want.
You can also teach your native language in the country you are visiting. Before becoming a language teacher, you should research local education programs and weigh their advantages and disadvantages. Some countries favor native-speaking instructors and offer housing, health insurance, tax exemptions, and high salaries.
Service-sector work is another good option. If you dream of traveling the world, you can apply to become a flight attendant or cruise ship employee. Alternatively, you can work as a tourism interpreter and guide visitors at famous attractions.
If your company has an overseas assignment program, volunteer for it. Mapping Megan added, “Overseas assignments may provide housing or meal allowances in addition to a salary.” However, you should make sure you have enough extra money. In some cases, your salary may be adjusted to local standards and become somewhat lower.
