[FAM Times reporter Jennylyn Gianan] From pop quizzes to high-stakes state examinations and the CSAT, which can change the course of a person's life, tests place a great deal of stress on students.

Students with an exam approaching should not overexert themselves by studying too hard and should give their minds some rest. Pushing yourself too hard can prevent the brain from absorbing necessary information. Review books and study notes, but avoid solving practice questions if possible.

It is also important to relax. Watching a movie, visiting a spa, or getting nail art are all fine options. Your body should be as relaxed as possible so that you can be in peak condition on exam day.

Students are often nervous before an exam and frequently have trouble sleeping, especially on the night before it.

The day before the exam, be sure to check that you have your ID and writing supplies. If permitted, it is also a good idea to bring noise-blocking earplugs. If you plan to stay at a hotel after the exam, confirm your reservation. Of course, do not forget to bring comfortable clothes.

For exams such as the CSAT, students must not keep a mobile phone in their possession. It is therefore best to leave it at home on exam day.

Set several alarms. If you have difficulty waking up early, it is a good idea to set multiple alarms so that you do not oversleep and ruin an exam you have spent months preparing for.

It is also good to make plans to celebrate. After the exam, take some time to reward yourself, knowing that you performed to the best of your ability.

Have confidence in yourself and offer yourself encouragement. It can also help to tell yourself that you can do it and resolve to take the exam without regrets.

Do not believe in superstitions. It may seem a little foolish, but you should do what makes you feel good—and if you have a lucky shirt, it is fine to wear it.

Do not stress yourself out. It is difficult to expect the best results in that state. Take a deep breath and relax.

It is best not to talk about the exam. Avoid discussing it even after taking it, as students may remain stressed until the results are released.
