Choi Daniel even practiced spinning scissors to play An Gwang-su in JTBC's 'Salon De Nabi'

Actor Choi Daniel revealed the efforts he made to embody his character in the new JTBC drama 'Salon De Nabi' and shared episodes from the filming process.

Through a video uploaded to his YouTube channel 'Choi Daniel' (2026-09-24), Choi Daniel expressed his thoughts on the drama 'Salon De Nabi', which recently began broadcasting. He explained that he is playing the role of hair designer 'An Gwang-su' in the work.

"Practicing spinning scissors to embody the character of An Gwang-su, the god of cutting"

In the video, Choi Daniel explained the character of An Gwang-su in detail. He introduced An Gwang-su as a 'god of cutting' who possesses a bit of narcissism. In particular, mentioning the character's trait of believing the standard of beauty lies within himself, he evaluated the work as "a drama that feels like a realistic person you might encounter around you, but at the same time has a cute and fairy-tale-like feeling."

He also mentioned the efforts made during the preparation process for the role. Choi Daniel revealed that he practiced spinning scissors at home to showcase the scene where An Gwang-su spins scissors in the drama. He said, "Since it was a part that had to be shown in the drama, I practiced spinning scissors alone at home," adding, "While actual hairdressers handle scissors carefully for fear of damaging the blades, I practiced spinning the scissors or making 'chak-chak-chak' sounds for practice." He also added that he learned internship processes, cutting, perms, and dyeing along with the fellow actors at a hair salon.

"From set fire scares to incidents during filming"

Tense moments and behind-the-scenes stories from the drama filming were also shared. Choi Daniel mentioned an experience where a small short circuit caused a fire on the set during filming. Regarding the atmosphere at the time, he recalled, "There was a moment when everyone was surprised, asking, 'Is this going to be a huge hit?'"

Regarding this work, he said, "I worked really hard during filming, and it is a work I have deep personal affection for," and "It was a work where there was much to learn and much effort was put in, so I focused on acting to not forget the character." He further guided that 'Salon De Nabi' airs every Saturday at 10:30 PM and 10:40 PM on JTBC and can also be watched through Netflix and TVING.

Considering a break due to an accident biting his tongue while sleeping... "Work to return the desk remains"

Meanwhile, Choi Daniel also spoke candidly about recent physical discomfort. He confessed that he experienced great pain after accidentally biting his tongue too hard while sleeping. He explained, "I woke up from such a massive shock that I wondered if I had been in a car accident," and said his tongue was so severely swollen that he could neither speak nor eat. Due to this, he considered taking a break from YouTube content next week, but said he turned on the camera to share stories about the drama.

In the early part of the video, he showed a glimpse of his daily life, sharing the hardship of moving and installing a 2-meter long tabletop by himself to handle a mishap where a large desk he recently ordered was delivered with only the tabletop and no legs.
