602 Days of Coexistence Between Dog Tongki and Baby Ung-i: Scent Adaptation Training Prepared Before Birth

As the dog Tongki and baby Ung-i continue their 602nd day of living together, the guardian's meticulous preparation process to welcome a new family member has been revealed. Creating an Initial Environment and Emotional Management to Reduce the Dog's Confusion

On the day the dog Tongki and baby Ung-i first met, the guardian focused on maintaining an environment no different from usual so that Tongki would not feel confused. The method chosen was to greet Tongki first and then show him the baby in the room, and instead of installing a fence to limit the child's space, they guided them to naturally become family members.

In particular, during the process of training the dog not to act excessively toward the baby, the guardian used a gentle explanatory method instead of direct discipline. In the video, when Tongki acts strongly toward the baby, the guardian corrects the behavior by saying, "If you do that, it hurts the baby; you should be sweet to them." Additionally, to ensure the dog does not feel alienated while the baby is present, the guardian maintains emotional balance by focusing on giving love only to Tongki during times when the baby is not around.

'Scent Adaptation' and Birth Preparation for the New Family Member

With the birth of a new sibling approaching this August, the guardian is conducting preliminary preparations so that the dog can accept the change. During the birth preparation process, the guardian prepared the detergent that the baby will use in the future in advance to create an environment where Tongki can become familiar with the baby's scent.

Furthermore, efforts were made in parallel to make Tongki aware in advance that a younger sibling is coming by using baby dolls and balls. In the case of baby Ung-i, when first encountering the baby doll, he showed a reaction of sniffing and exploring it.
