As the number of 'pet family' members who treat their pets like family increases, customized spaces and services for pets are expanding. According to a video from KBS Animal TV : Animal for You animal4u's 'Discoveries in Life' (broadcast on August 6, 2018), the dog Roy and his guardian Song Nu-ri live in an environment specifically designed for the dog's health and convenience.
A customized space for the dog, decorated with non-slip mats and a dedicated room
Guardian Song Nu-ri carefully manages the home environment for her dog, Roy. To prevent Roy, who has weak joints, from slipping, she installed adhesive mats worth approximately 300,000 won across the entire living room floor. Additionally, she prepared a dedicated room just for Roy, equipped with pet supplies, creating an environment where she can focus entirely on the time spent with him.
Song previously worked as a daycare teacher, but she has since quit her job to spend more time with Roy. Having regained physical and mental stability through Roy, Song is preparing for a new daily life by planning a business that she can run together with her dog in the future.
A dog receiving acupuncture and moxibustion for bronchial health
The video captures Roy, who shows coughing symptoms due to weak bronchial tubes, visiting an oriental medicine clinic exclusively for dogs. At this clinic, acupuncture and moxibustion treatments are performed depending on the dog's condition.
During acupuncture treatment, the dog is laid on a bed just like a human to ensure they stay still and receive treatment safely. The process also includes moxibustion to replenish energy. In the video, the medical staff performed treatments by placing acupuncture needles and moxibustion at points that aid lung and large intestine functions to boost Roy's bronchial health.
In addition, Roy receives systematic care, such as attending a dog kindergarten to receive socialization and etiquette training and resting according to a set nap time. Guardian Song is focusing on improving the quality of life for her dog by using a dedicated stroller for Roy and purchasing clothing specifically for dogs.
