This equipment is designed to pull out eels wedged in rock crevices, and it is characterized by being made entirely of wire to withstand the strong strength of the eel. The participant in the video mentioned that this equipment is a patented product and explained that it works in a way where an electronic float reacts or fluctuates when an eel bites the bait. Thick blue earthworms, which eels prefer, were used as bait. In particular, a tool called an 'earthworm piercer' was utilized to attach the bait to the hook more effectively. By hooking the earthworm in the groove of this tool and pushing it upward, the earthworm can be cleanly and deeply fixed onto the hook, helping to ensure it is not lost when the eel bites the bait. The participant demonstrated how to cleanly insert thick earthworms deep into the hook using this tool.

Attacking rock crevices and the stability of wire equipment

The key to eel hole fishing is finding the narrow crevices where eels are hiding. In the video, the participant searched for holes that might look empty on the surface but have a structure that narrows toward the bottom. At the first point, they faced failure as no eel bit, but at the second point, an eel's head was discovered, leading to the first catch.

In this process, the role of the special wire equipment was emphasized. When an eel gets caught in a rock crevice and resists strongly, ordinary lines are at risk of breaking, but the wire equipment provides psychological stability and allows the eel to be pulled up. In fact, the participant experienced strong force as if the eel were stuck to a rock, but thanks to the wire, they succeeded in pulling up a golden eel larger than a finger length by hooking the chain.

Success in eel fishing in an environment with many sand crabs

While successful fishing scenes are often shown, eel fishing is actually a high-difficulty task, with success occurring only about once in ten attempts. The latter part of the video captures the fishing situation in an area where many sand crabs inhabit.
