The 'Picnic Mat Chimaek Concert' held in Okcheon, Chungcheongbuk-do, received a positive response from local residents by providing chicken and beer to visitors who brought their own mats. Held on September 19, this event was a festival created through the cooperation of local small business owners and planners, demonstrating an operating method that differentiates itself from typical festivals involving large-scale budgets.

Free chicken and beer provided to visitors with mats

According to a video from the Mat Sangmu channel, this festival was operated in a way that provided benefits if visitors brought their own mats. For up to 100 teams among the visitors who brought mats, one whole chicken and two glasses of beer were provided, while visitors between 100 and 200 teams were provided with two glasses of beer and popcorn. Food sales within the event venue were operated in connection with local commercial districts. In a system where visitors directly bring food from local shops, the structure allowed for sales to be 2,000 won cheaper than usual as no delivery fees were incurred.

7,800 people gathered, exceeding expectations, completed through the passion of a local planner

This event was a great success, with approximately 7,800 people gathering, greatly exceeding the initial expected number of 500 people. Lee Jong-pil, a local resident who balances event planning and activities as a singer, revealed that in addition to the 10 million won sponsorship received from Okcheon County, he invested more than 4 million won of his own personal funds to prepare for this festival. Lee stated that he wanted to prepare a place where musicians from Okcheon and the same-age generation could enjoy together, and emphasized that a fun festival can be created without spending large amounts of money.

A festival official expressed hope that this event would be a place where families can enjoy together and a festival where local small business owners can also participate and enjoy. This event, created by adding the personal passion of the planner to the budget sponsored by Okcheon County, served as an opportunity to strengthen the solidarity of the local community.
