Munchkin cat Yongyong, spent one year in a breeding facility without ever stepping on litter

Yongyong, a Munchkin breed cat who lived her entire life giving birth in a private breeding facility, has learned how to use a litter box after one year and is now waiting for adoption. According to a video from 'Please Take Care of Abandoned Animals', Yongyong was rescued after living in an illegal breeding facility environment without ever having stepped on litter.

The reality of the breeding facility environment where even the concept of litter was non-existent

The private breeding facility where Yongyong stayed lacked even the minimum hygienic environment. According to the explanation from the participant in the video, there were no proper litter boxes in the breeding facility. Instead, all there was were some pieces of torn newspaper placed on the floors of plastic litter boxes. Due to this, Yongyong did not even have the opportunity to step on 'litter', a basic part of a cat's life, for a period of about one year.

The environment of these illegal breeding facilities directly leads to health problems for the animals. The participant mentioned that because it is difficult to crack down on or sanction illegal breeding facilities, litter box hygiene is very poor, and as a result, diseases such as diarrhea, hernia, and folliculitis frequently appear in rescued adult cats. Especially in the case of breeding facilities that deal with purebred cats, when crackdowns begin, the demand for kittens decreases, but the cats that have already become adults often have nowhere to go and are left in an abused state.

Learning how to use the litter box after a year of waiting and Yongyong's personality

Yongyong, who had no concept of litter at all, had difficulty finding the litter box using her sense of smell immediately after being rescued. Because it is very difficult to train adult cats for defecation, it was also expected that adoption would not be easy initially. However, as a result of consistent training while staying at the center for over a year, Yongyong has now recovered to a state where she can use the litter box about 90% of the time.

Yongyong's personality is on the timid side, but she has no aggression at all. The participant explained that while Yongyong may act timidly at first, once she adapts to the environment, she has a very affectionate personality, performing 'head bunting' by rubbing her body against people or lying down showing her belly. Currently, Yongyong is being protected in the Cheonan area and is waiting for a new family after being rescued through Dong-i.
