How to Care for a Lace Wig
Care for lace wigs by avoiding rough handling, hot water and unsuitable products, washing regularly, and using plant-based products with a pH of 4–6.
The following actions can damage a wig:
1. Brushing the wig while it is wet
2. Handling the wig roughly
3. Using greasy or oil-based hair products
4. Failing to remove adhesive after wearing the wig
5. Washing the wig with hot water
6. Brushing the wig downward from the roots
To care for a wig properly, wash it regularly and use appropriate wig-care products.
Products that are best avoided on human hair should also not be used on wigs. These products contain excessive chemicals and alcohol that can loosen the knots in a lace wig. They can also make the wig hair dry and thin or cause it to break easily.
For optimal wig care, use products with a balanced pH of around 4–6. Plant-based products are also recommended. Alkaline hair-care products make wig hair more prone to frizz and tangling, while slightly more acidic products make the wig softer and easier to manage.
