Caring for a garden is not easy, but following the advice below may help you discover a talent you never knew you had. Here is how to care for air plants that are well suited to growing indoors.

Air plants should be kept near a sunny window or in a location with indirect light or fluorescent lighting. Too much light can weaken the plants and make them brittle. Conversely, insufficient light can slow their growth and cause their leaves to fade.

As mentioned above, artificial lighting can be used if the house does not receive much sunlight. It is best to use a bulb that provides strong light to promote plant growth. Ideally, position the bulb about 15–20 cm above the plants and keep it on for approximately 12 hours.

To keep air plants growing healthily, provide a warm environment of around 10–30°C and sufficient humidity.

Experts recommend soaking the plants in a container of water instead of misting them with a spray bottle. Submerge them in warm water for about 30 minutes two to three times a week. Applying water-based compost once a month is also beneficial.

The plants may occasionally develop rot. If this happens, cut away only the rotten roots. If the stem is also damaged, discard the plant and replace it with a fresh one.

Finally, good ventilation is important so the plants can dry completely between waterings. Inadequate air circulation can cause the plants to rot or develop brown spots.
