Rain-Soaked Lawns: Avoid Stressing the Grass

The scorching days of summer have passed, and autumn is now setting in. Rainy days accompanied by cool, chilly winds are becoming more frequent.

First, it is best to leave rain-soaked grass alone. If it is thoroughly drenched, in particular, mowing or tending it could damage it beyond repair, so avoid doing so whenever possible.

It is also best to avoid parking vehicles on the lawn during this period. Experts even advise against walking on wet grass. With water pooling all around, walking on it can stress the plants. Anything that places weight on and presses down the grass exerts pressure that affects the plants.

Voles may also appear from time to time during this period, damaging the lawn’s soil or other crops. They create pathways and dig holes in the lawn, gnawing on the parts of plants that extend underground. If you want to drive these rodents away, putting up a small platform that attracts nearby birds can also be an effective method.
