[FamTimes reporter Jennylyn Gianan] All parents strive to be perfect. There is, of course, nothing wrong with that. But it is difficult to handle work, childcare, and household chores perfectly all at once.

Parents do not need to push themselves to the limit to achieve their so-called parenting goals. There are several ways to manage the household effectively without feeling stressed.

First, parents need to recognize when their minds and bodies need rest.

For example, many parents try to get household chores done while their children are napping. But they do not have to. Instead, they should give their own bodies and minds time to rest. A short nap can effectively reduce stress.

It is also helpful to check the calendar. Using a calendar allows parents to plan ahead for appointments and tasks on specific dates. Do not forget to share the calendar with your spouse. If something comes up, you can coordinate your respective schedules with each other over the next few days.

Setting a budget is also important. Managing all the household responsibilities costs a great deal of money. From pregnancy and childbirth to eventually sending a child to school, parents also spend heavily on their family's basic living needs.

Therefore, buying necessary items from a secondhand store can save money. You may even find clothes that have never been worn and use the remaining budget to buy other things.

Whether or not you have children, setting a budget does not make you less responsible or necessarily make you wise. But it is important to have a basic understanding of how much money is available in your budget.
