[FamTimes reporter Lee Kyung-han] Moving to a new place means beginning a new life. We can change our lives and our families. Yet we may find ourselves wondering whether our decision is truly right and whether moving abroad will benefit our children.

Parents worry about their families above all else. In particular, most mothers become so focused on their family's fears and needs that they often lose sight of what they themselves want.

Jennifer Smith, who emigrated from the United States to another country, faced similar hardships. She and her husband prepared to move after deciding to live abroad. During the process, however, she realized that the move had an enormous impact on parenting.

Parents need to remain calm, especially in highly stressful situations. Children will follow their example. Life is a bumpy road, and staying calm helps us find a way through difficult circumstances.

A positive mindset is also important. It can be difficult to stay positive when things do not go as planned.

Even so, we need to maintain a positive attitude throughout the day. During times of change and uncertainty, we must stay positive and set an example for our children.

It is important to talk often. Families should always make time to talk with one another. By sharing their concerns, children learn in the process to voice the fears and doubts in their hearts. Communicating with one another deepens family bonds.

Contrary to parents' concerns, children can readily adapt to change. This is one of their greatest qualities. When children begin exploring the world on their own, parents will be amazed by their growth and transformation. Parents need to be just as resilient as their children.

Parents also need space to themselves. There is nothing wrong with being honest with yourself.

It is also important to remember that you can draw strength from your partner, family, and friends. Once the problem has been resolved, it is good to get back on your feet, learn from your failure, and move forward again.

Beginning a new life in an unfamiliar place brings countless difficulties. Over time, however, everything becomes ordinary and routine.
