How to Maintain a Good Father-Daughter Relationship
A healthy father-daughter bond requires love, support, balanced attention, clear authority, and a positive example through good and difficult times.
[FamTimes reporter Jennylyn Gianan] Being a kind and responsible father is essential to a child's well-being and future.
The moment a father learns he is having a daughter, he must accept that his priorities have changed.
Becoming a father means taking responsibility for showing his daughters affection, nurturing and providing for them, bathing them, and being part of their lives.
Maintaining a healthy father-daughter relationship is essential because daughters may grow up to respect their fathers, which can later influence how they judge men.
When daughters receive enough love from their father, they can trust men in the future and develop healthy relationships. Even when their father is no longer by their side, the father figure they grew up with will endure and ultimately be passed down to the next generation.
It is good to give a daughter attention, but too much may not be good. As a result, daughters may grow up spoiled and become materialistic women who only expect to receive from men without giving anything in return.
To be a good father, you should stand by your children through both good times and difficult ones.
Another way to be a good father is to exercise authority. This does not mean frightening or intimidating your daughter. It means teaching her what is right and wrong and helping her understand the consequences of disobeying her father's authority.
Every father-daughter relationship is unique. Many unexpected events arise and are often beyond anyone's control. Most importantly, however, a father should set a good example for his children and show them how it is done.
