Cozy studio interiors that help create a happy everyday life are gaining attention. Recently, more people have embraced DIY interior design to create a personal space where they can spend long periods of time. With the right interior design and choice of furnishings alone, a small space can be made to look much larger.

Studio apartments, where many people living on their own reside, have no walls dividing the space, so they can look either smaller or twice as spacious depending on how they are decorated. So, how can you make a studio apartment look more spacious?

Furniture size is important when decorating a studio apartment. For a studio occupied by one person in particular, make better use of the space with small, low-profile furniture instead of large pieces that look thick and heavy. This can create the striking effect of making the room feel more open and the ceiling appear higher.

Another way to make a studio apartment look larger is to create a cohesive look with an overall white color scheme. Matching the ceiling, walls, and furniture in bright, light shades of white blurs the boundaries between the room and its furnishings, making everything appear seamlessly connected and the small studio feel more spacious. However, rather than making everything white, it is better to add one or two pieces of furniture in primary colors. This gives the space greater dimension and helps draw the eye to different areas.

It is also a good idea to make use of every spare nook when decorating a studio apartment. Awkward spaces above doors or around windows can be turned into storage with shelves. Consider installing a clothes rack in a long, narrow area as well, since this makes more efficient use of the space than a bulky wardrobe.
