Small apartments measuring 46.5 m² (approximately 14 pyeong), commonly called micro-apartments, have recently become increasingly prevalent. Their compact size makes them particularly popular among young people looking for a home near the city.

If you are considering living in a micro-apartment, it is a good idea to make a checklist that takes your prospective home into account. Experts recommend carefully considering the following points when looking for a new micro-apartment:

- Features that make a small space look larger.

Natural light is an important factor that can make a small apartment look larger. An apartment with high ceilings, light-colored wallpaper, an open furniture layout, and light wood flooring can feel spacious even if the interior is small. You should also consider the number, size, and placement of the windows.

- An efficient kitchen layout.

Before moving in, check whether the kitchen can accommodate all your kitchenware. Cabinets are extremely useful because they can store a variety of utensils and equipment. You should also inspect the space to see whether it can accommodate appliances such as a refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave.

- A bathroom designed in light colors.

A light-colored design can make not only the living room but also the bathroom look more spacious. You may also want to customize the bathroom yourself by exploring various options, including paint colors, tile types, marble, and granite.

- Outdoor space.

The need for outdoor space is often overlooked. However, it provides extra room that can be used for a variety of purposes. In a setting with a different atmosphere and a fresher feel than the indoors, you can enjoy everyday activities such as reading, sunbathing, and relaxing.

- Stairs.

If there are many stairs, you can get some exercise whenever you go in and out of the apartment building. However, using the stairs every day can become tiring. It is best to look for an apartment with an elevator or, if there is no elevator, choose one on the second floor.

- Proximity to shops.

Carefully consider the apartment's location. Ideally, it should be near supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries, and other shops where you can buy essential items. Since you cannot store as much food as you might want in a small refrigerator, you may need to shop frequently. Choosing an apartment close to shops is ideal.
