[FamTimes reporter Lee Kyung-han] Raising children as a single parent is extremely difficult. It is even harder when you are caring for a child alone after a divorce. Discussing how to raise your children going forward with your former spouse is not easy either.

YourTango.com, an international entertainment and relationships outlet, shared ways to raise children well even after divorce.

First, you should speak openly with your children about your current situation. If you decide to tell them about the changes following the divorce, explain the changes as clearly as possible in language they can understand.

Do not criticize your former spouse in front of your children. Getting along with your former spouse after divorce sets a good example for them.

If your children want to visit your former spouse's home, it is best to willingly let them go.

Children should also be given the right to speak about family issues. Conversation can bring you and your children closer and help ease anger toward your former spouse.

Even after divorce, you should provide proper guidance as a parent. Being overly permissive can create other problems.

You should tell your children and help them understand that the divorce is not their fault.

Learn to accept the situation and let go of the painful emotions caused by the divorce.

Your relationship with your former in-laws also changes after divorce. However, they remain cherished grandparents to your children. It is good for the children to visit their grandparents' home from time to time.

Many people pursue divorce litigation when divorce by mutual consent is not possible. But even if you lose in court, there is no reason to remain despondent. Put on makeup and groom your hair and nails. Taking a warm bubble bath and going shopping can also help.

The important thing is to hold your head high and tell yourself, “This too shall pass.” Above all, maintain a positive attitude for your children.
