Deer Swimming in Pool Draws Attention

[FamTimes reporter Kang Gyu-jung] The hot season has arrived. The midday summer heat can easily exhaust animals as well as humans.

A deer was caught on camera leisurely enjoying a swim in a pool in New Jersey.

Homeowner Brittany Benincasa said she watched the young deer climb out of the pool after it finished swimming. "The deer shook the water off its body and then lay down in the shade. It seemed to have accidentally fallen into the pool and struggled to swim its way out," Brittany added.

Brittany's family calls the deer "Bambi." After that, Bambi would occasionally stop by Brittany's pool for a swim. Brittany called security to try to return the deer to the woods, but the attempt ultimately failed. Instead, the deer began visiting the pool every day.

"It has been coming to the pool since last week. It visits every day in the late afternoon and goes swimming. I guess deer enjoy cooling off in the water too," Brittany said with a smile. "It's amazing. The whole family loves Bambi, not just the children."

Brittany's children sometimes leave cherry tomatoes near the grassy area Bambi likes. "People ask whether we can adopt it, but wild deer are not easy to tame," Brittany said.

Bambi also enjoys a free massage in the Jacuzzi. "Bambi is a well-mannered guest. It knows exactly how to enter and leave the shop," Brittany added.

When Brittany's family uses the pool, Bambi leaves on its own, as though respecting their family time. But it always returns to enjoy a solitary swim. The family knows that as young Bambi grows, it will eventually become difficult for the deer to use the pool.

Bambi does not go swimming on days when rain pours down.
